Privacy policy

This page explains, in plain words, what data we collect on this site and in the Wattora app, and what we do with it.

Data controller

Wattora is a project in the process of being incorporated. Until then, the data controllers are the founders Damiano Alessi, Pietro Argenton and Stefano Mancone, acting as joint controllers (Art. 26 GDPR), reachable at info@wattora.eu. Once the company is incorporated it will become the controller and this page will be updated.

What data we collect on this site

Only what you leave us: your email and, if you fill in the survey, your name, postcode and some information about your system (inverter brand, battery, bill range). We never collect meter IDs, tax codes, IBANs or payment details. Site statistics are anonymous and cookie-free.

Why we use it

To contact you about early access and to prepare the analysis of your system. Nothing else. We never sell or share your data with third parties.

Legal basis

We process your data because you gave it to us when asking to be contacted for early access or for the analysis of your system: pre-contractual steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Anonymous site statistics rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Where it is stored

On servers we run ourselves in Germany, i.e. inside the European Union: no transfer outside the EU. The only external party that comes into contact with your data is the email service provider we use to reply to you. We never sell or share your data with anyone else.

For how long

We keep the data for as long as needed to run the pilot program and in any case no longer than 24 months from the last contact; then we delete it. You can ask for earlier deletion at any time.

Cookies

This site uses no cookies: no technical, profiling or third-party cookies. Visit statistics are collected anonymously and without cookies, which is why there is no banner to accept.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time for access to your data, its correction, a copy or its deletion, and object to the processing: one email to info@wattora.eu is enough. We reply within 30 days. If you believe the processing breaches the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it).

The Wattora app

If you use the Wattora app with a Wattora CORE installed in your home, we also process the data described below, to show you your home's energy and work out your savings. We do it to provide the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The controllers are the same as above.

What data the app processes

• Account: the username we give you, your password (stored only in encrypted form) and the homes you can access. • Your home: the name you choose, the region and the system details you enter (power, selling scheme, cost, time bands). • Energy: every few seconds Wattora CORE sends us solar production, consumption, battery and grid exchanges. This data can show when someone is at home: we use it only for the service and never share it. • Your energy bill: the photo or PDF you upload, with your name, address, tax code and meter ID (POD). We use it only to read your tariff. • Error reports: when something goes wrong, the app sends us a technical description of the error with your username, so we can fix it. We never receive your Wi-Fi password (it goes only to Wattora CORE, over encrypted Bluetooth) or your location: the app uses it only on your phone, to read the Wi-Fi network name. The camera is used for the QR code on the Wattora CORE label and for your bill: the QR image never leaves your phone.

Where, and with whom

On our servers in Germany, like the site's data. Your bill is read only by our team, to get your tariff details: we don't send it to any outside service. During testing the app is installed through Apple's TestFlight, which receives installation data and any feedback you choose to send, under Apple's own privacy policy. We never sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long (app)

Account, home and energy data: for as long as you use the service. If you ask us to close your account, we delete them within 30 days; the backup copies that contain them are gone within 6 months. Your bill: for as long as you use the service, because it is needed to work out your savings; we delete it with the account. Error reports: 90 days.

Your rights (app)

You have the same rights described above. To close your account and delete your data, write to info@wattora.eu.
